IPUMS provides free access to census and survey data, integrated across time and space, making it easy to study change and conduct comparative research. IPUMS Global Health is the world’s largest repository of free, harmonized global health survey data. With funding from NIH, NSF, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, international IPUMS projects offer data on individuals from over 100 countries and multiple decades. Thousands of consistently coded IPUMS variables cover a wide range of demographic, economic, and health topics. Examples in this workshop will focus on global-health-related topics and variables covering the health and well-being of women and children. Presenters will explain how IPUMS integrates data and will demonstrate how to access IPUMS data, search for and learn about relevant variables, create a customized data file, and analyze data using a rapid online tabulator. Participants will have the opportunity to work with IPUMS staff during hands-on demonstrations.
