More than 100 million people worldwide are directly impacted by humanitarian emergencies. With the increasing health consequences of climate change and global vulnerability to pandemics, there is recognition that all populations are at risk of humanitarian crises and associated health impacts. This session will focus on methods for teaching, training, and mentoring students and early career researchers to work at the nexus of humanitarian practice and global mental health research. Participants will learn about best practices in mentoring that bring together training in research, collaboration with humanitarian agencies, and engagement with communities and people with lived experience of mental health conditions. Evidence-based and innovative teaching and training strategies will be discussed.
